In the winter, you can find harbor seals and red-throated loons. In the fall, you may see a kaleidoscope of Monarch butterflies. You can find many species of animals, depending on the time of year you visit. Both of these have made "top beaches in the US" lists over the years. These include Race Point Beach in Provincetown and Coast Guard Beach in Eastham. There are several excellent beaches along the coastline with public facilities available seasonally. Notable sites encompassed by the CCNS include Marconi Station (site of the first two-way transatlantic radio transmission), the Highlands Center for the Arts (formerly the North Truro Air Force Station), the Dune Shacks of Peaked Hill Bars Historic District (a 1,950-acre historic district containing dune shacks and the dune environment), and the glacial erratic known as Doane Rock.Ī former United States Coast Guard station on the ocean in Truro is now operated as a 42-bed youth hostel by Hostelling International USA. It was so good to see that they are really trying to remove plastic packaging and general waste in their food outlets. As we arrived early (about 20 mins before the park open) we watched staff arrive and every single one had a temperature check. However all outside so risk massively reduced anyway. The social distancing in queue lines was good, but impossible to keep 2 metres at times. The park was spotless with constant cleaning taking place. All staff had masks and kept their distance. With regards to their Covid-19 measures there were excellent. The life guards were excellent and ensure everyone respected the rules. The park is also very well laid out with lots of space for you to lay out your towels. There is a good variety of water slides for all ages. After that the line for The Wave was a good 30 minutes long. However, we did do The Wave first thing when the park opened at 10.00 am. I think the longest we waited was 10 Minutes. The park did have restricted numbers due to covid-19 so I think this meant the queue times were shorter. However this year it was the only one open so gave it a go. So last year we avoided this water park due to the long wait times. ![]()
